Psalm 91:1-2 (NIV)
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a] 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.
During this Lenten season, each week we will look at verses from Psalm 91, the Psalm of Protection. This week let’s look at the first two verses.
Consider the following:
The scripture is stating by dwelling and being in God’s presence, God will protect you! You will be under the exclusive case of Heaven! Those who live a life of communion with God are constantly safe under his protection, and may, therefore, preserve a holy serenity and security of mind at all times! God will be your rest and refuge forever as long as you build your residence under His protection! When the going gets tough and either you make unwise decisions or the enemy gets busy, what or who do you take residence under? Doing this Lenten season, build up your relationship with God. Ask yourself, where are you taking fortress? Did you temporarily stop off at a hotel, motel, or holiday inn? It is necessary to habitually reside in the mysterious presence of our triune God — just reflect on this, do you have one day of fasting and praying carved out? Do you intentionally seek out for undistracted alone time with the father? It is critical to commune with God because God is safety and the more closely we cling to our Almighty Father the more confident we may be during our wartime.
