Psalm 91:15-16 God is NOT Your Clean Up Man!

Psalm 91:15-16 (NIV)
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Consider the following:
Today’s scripture lesson reminds us we need to call on our triune God, the father, the son - Jesus, and the Holy Spirit! For the bible says when we call on Him, He will answer and be with us in trouble! God will deliver us and honor us! Too often we try to save ourselves. Too often we look to temporary fixes (e.g., excessive sleeping, known as avoidance; shopping sprees, money comfort; indulgence in unhealthy behaviors such gaming electronics and people, overeating and under-eating, and increase of consumption in legal and illegal substances). Then after we try it that way, we want to go to God and ask Him to fix our conniving ways, finances, medical and mental health, and rid us of addictive behaviors. God is NOT your clean up man and do not treat Him as such! Yes, He always comes through but God pours upon us the spirit of prayer and then He answers by promises, providences, graces, and bringing in seasonal relief. Therefore, today, I urge you to continue to use the spirit of prayer by praying without ceasing! That is why verse 16 of our text gives us the hope that if we surrender our thoughts and actions to the Lord, He promises to give us longevity and abundance.
