Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Are you waiting on the Lord to provide you with something: An answer, opportunity, partner, or blessing? One of the hardest aspects of being a Christian is having to wait and trust God’s timing. In our society, we are trained to be survivors and lean on our own understanding, but that directly negates our ability to strengthen our faith in God. Today’s verse encourages us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and to acknowledge him at all times as he will direct us. So, why is it so hard to fully trust in the Lord? Is it fear that we might not believe that God can alter our situation? Is it lack of patience because we want instant results? Or that what we are praying for is not God’s plan for us?
Consider the following:
God is a creator that knows past, present, and future and can direct our paths based on his holy and divine power. Humans, on the other hand, can only utilize their own experiences and abilities when dealing with their challenges. So, here are some tips when you feel like taking the wheel versus letting God place his hand over your life.
Tip 1: Reflect on a miracle that God has done in your own life or in others
Tip 2: Read the miracle stories in the bible and connect them to your everyday life
Tip 3: Write things you can do to help God with your prayer request “Faith without action is dead”
Tip 4: Keep a journal of gratitude that tracks God’s blessings in your life
We hope that these tips, along with constant prayer and worship, help you develop patience as you wait for God to respond your prayers.
