1 Corinthians 13:4-13
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
So, the last piece of the formula is LOVE!
Paul declares that Love never fails. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Therefore, be assured that the love God has for us always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Because God is love! You will understand God’s love by spending daily time with Him through devotionals, praise, and by speaking His word, and understanding his word. Once you fall in love with God you will have that ultimate connection. As many of us know, in order to fall in love with something or someone you have to spend time with it or the person. How do you expect to fall in love with God and you’re not spending time with Him? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Him! Because the answer to religious complacency is working harder at a list of do’s and dont’s, can’t do this, can’t do that, can’t go here, BUT the answer to spiritual ascension is falling in love with God. In order to fall in love with God you have to read His word. You have to spend time with Him. Don’t treat God like a sugar daddy, He is your heavenly father! Don’t just check in to get something, court Him, spend some time with Him, take Him out on your dates, take Him to school or your work place, tell him all about your joys and fears, and truly love on God!
