Matthew 10:5-8 (NIV)
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7 As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
Today’s scripture reminds us that as we freely receive, we should also freely give. It is a blessing to share your time, talent, and even possessions with others. God wants us to be cheerful, generous, and courageous especially to non-believers. However, in today’s world it may be hard given radical religious views that have people slain and ostracized, resulting in many Christians afraid to acknowledge their God. Today’s scripture reminds us that God wants us to share our time and talent with everyone, not just fellow Christians. Therefore, do not be ashamed to share the gospel and know that God will be with you even in the times of terror. I encourage you to go out and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ, and make the commitment to have an overflowing heart that will echo the great love you have for Christ and his children.
