1 John 4:4 Are You Looking For Power?

1 John 4:4(NLT)
4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.

For many of us 2017, has been a trying year. It tried our patience, our finances, our emotional strength, our physical strength, tried our marriages, our families, our friendships, tried our truth, our boldness, our trust, our perseverance, which resulted in us trying our God. During this trying year, many of us questioned God, became angry as a result of frustration and disappointment with God, and quiet as it is kept, some of us gave up on God. Yet, even while doing so and going through the tug of war in life, many of us refuse to go back to Egypt and are in search of God’s power. As we close out this year and are in this season of Advent, a period of welcoming God into our lives every day, for those of us still in search of God’s power, over these next few weeks we are going to discuss three ways to find and obtain it.

First, we find power in God's Presence. Being in God's presence keeps us hopeful. The enemy wants us to live in our past which is why we need to stay in God's presence.  Looking at and living in the past prevents growth and God wants us to propel forward. Being in God's presence gives us the knowledge that tragedies will reshape our lives. However, whether the tragedy is self-inflicted because you created your own plan or God ordained when you are in God's presence He will bring triumph to the tragedy. Further, once you receive God as your Savior, you have the Holy Spirit, which means you have the power! The more you are in our triune God's presence, the more you can operate in the power!

Today, I encourage you to make a conscious effort every day to be in God's presence for at least 15 minutes. Invite God in, ask Him for a visitation! Seek Him and you will find Him. Ask Him to make you feel different so you know without a doubt you are in His presence. Pray for a spiritual awakening in His presence because there is power in His presence!
