January's Temple Talk: The Year of Completion

2017 The Year of Completion

As you begin this year, I encourage you to develop four areas while striving for completion. First, your emotional health, second your spiritual health, third your physical health, and fourth your intellectual health. These four target areas are key to becoming whole. Additionally, wholeness in these areas necessitate completion because it is usually these areas that we struggle in the most. Whether you are aiming to complete a degree, a health management goal, develop your prayer life, or better understand your emotional self, now is the time to make it happen! 

I encourage you to let the trials and tribulations of 2016, 2006 or even 1996 stay in the past. Forgive to become free, let go to become liberated, and ascend to achieve. It's time to go higher, no more mediocrity, excuses, or being your own roadblock. The time is now! Healing is now! Freedom is now! Love is now! Peace is now! Joy is now! Happiness is now! Authenticity is now!

F.I.R.E. Celebrates Akilah Johnson

Today as I opened up Google to search the internet, their picture caught my attention. Immediately, I clicked on it and was drawn to read the article about the Google Doodle winner. As I was reading about the contest and Akilah Johnson, the winner, I immediately said to myself, she's a F.I.R.E.!

Akilah, a sophomore at Eastern Senior High School in Northeast Washington, D.C. unapologetically expressed her culturally rich lifestyle through art. She is an example of the mission of F.I.R.E. by being a Fearless Individual Resistant to Entrapment of being culturally muffled!

Saturday: Gimel, co-founder of One Temple Fitness, sharing an effective exercise to work the core (stabilizing), side obliques, glutes, and quads. Watch the full video below and if you're a beginner complete 5 on each leg everyday, holding onto a wall or chair if you need to, and assess how strong you become over time: by increasing the reps and not holding onto anything.
